A Maryland man was killed by a relative during a fight in downtown Silver Spring on Friday afternoon, police say.
Officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police were called shortly after 2 p.m. on Nov. 21 the area of Richmond Avenue and Fenton Street, where there were reports of shots fired, with one person down.
Upon arrival, officers found Babacar Mbengue, lying in the street with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was rushed to an area hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
During the investigation into the shooting, a relative, 20-year-old Laurel resident Fallou Galass Fall, was identified as the suspect.
According to investigators, Mbengue and Fall were inside a red Tesla when they began arguing. Both got out of the car and continued fighting in the street. During the altercation, Fall allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Mbengue.
He then left the scene in the Tesla.
Fall was arrested in Laurel shortly after 6 p.m. on Friday as he was driving away from his apartment, authorities said.
He was taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he was served with a warrant charging him with first-degree murder, police said.
He is awaiting a bond hearing.
