A zoo in Tennessee just welcomed a new baby gorilla — and it is the first of its kind to be born there in nearly a decade.
Zoo Knoxville announced the news in an Instagram post on Thursday, Nov. 20, sharing that the new addition was born to a 27-year-old mom named Kumi.
“KUMI’S BABY IS HERE! 🦍 💛,” the zoo wrote in its caption alongside an adorable video of Kumi with her new baby.
The zoo said the animal is “a healthy Western lowland gorilla” that was born on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at about 8:15 a.m. local time.
