A 20-year-old man died and two others were hospitalised after inhaling toxic fumes from a suspected chemical leak inside an industrial unit in Mumbai’s Andheri on Saturday.

The incident occurred around 4.55 pm at a two-storey structure in Bhangarwadi, located within the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) area, officials said.

Fire brigade personnel rushed to the location soon after being alerted and shifted all three affected workers to Holy Spirit Hospital. Ahmad Hussain, 20, was declared dead on arrival.

The other two victims — Naushad Ansari (28) and Saba Shaikh (17) — are currently undergoing treatment.

The source of the leak is yet to be determined. Officials said the trio’s health deteriorated rapidly after they inhaled the toxic fumes.
