LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - United ISD held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new veterinary science program at United High School that will certify students as veterinary assistants.
Eighteen students will be the first in the district to participate in the course. The ceremony included the students and their new teacher, Kassandra Garcia, Principal Jessica Salazar, district leaders and members of the UHS Student Council.
Board Member Michelle Molina brought the idea to the district after students approached her two years ago, requesting veterinary classes so they could pursue careers helping animals and stay in UISD.
