MISSOULA — The Brawl for it all certainly lived up to the hype as it delivered a bevy of action on the field.
Third-ranked Montana State won the back-and-forth affair against second-ranked Montana, 31-28, on a sunny Saturday afternoon at Washington-Grizzly Stadium to secure the Big Sky Conference outright championship and year-long bragging rights in addition to almost assuredly locking up a top-two seed in the FCS playoff bracket, which will be released at 10 a.m. MT Sunday on ESPNU.
The Cats became the first road team to win in the series since they left Missoula victorious in 2018. Montana State also won its third Big Sky championship in the past four years and its 18th overall with an 8-0 league record. The Griz finished 7-0 and second in the conference standings.
