DELAWARE COUNTY, Ind. — In front of hundreds of community members and law enforcement officers, Allie Reynolds recalled conversations she and her husband, Cpl. Blake Reynolds , shared before hanging up the phone while he was working the night shift.
“I would start, ‘Stay safe,’” she said. “He would reply, ‘Always.’ Next came, ‘I love you,’ which was given back, and finally, we would always say to each other, ‘I’ll see you in the morning.’”
She remembers speaking those same words back and forth late Tuesday night, Nov. 11.
Hours later, around 3:30 a.m. Nov. 12, the Delaware County sheriff’s corporal was killed in a crash on Interstate 69. He stopped to help a semi-truck driver whose trailer had partly slid off the truck, when another semi-truck lost control and hit him.
