STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Many New Yorkers are still waiting to receive their first-ever inflation refund checks, and state officials say the payments will begin arriving soon for those who have not yet received them.
On Sept. 27, 2025, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced the state’s first-ever inflation refund checks, part of the 2025–2026 New York state budget, aimed at providing relief to New Yorkers who have paid higher sales taxes due to inflation.
According to the city’s 311 website , checks began mailing at the end of September 2025, and will continue over several weeks. Individuals may receive their payments sooner or later than their neighbors, as mailings are not based on zip code or region.
