As the college football world awaits word from Lane Kiffin , LSU has a game to play.

Western Kentucky is in town to face the Tigers (6-4) in the last home game of their lost 2025 season. The Hilltoppers (8-2) are 24.5-point underdogs to LSU, but they’re one of Conference USA’s top teams, and they have an offense that’s producing more yards per game than all but about a couple dozen FBS teams.

Quarterback Garrett Nussmeier will not suit up, which means that sophomore Michael Van Buren will make his second start for the Tigers instead, officially burning his redshirt season. Remember, at the moment, he’s LSU’s lone scholarship quarterback. Third-stringer Colin Hurley is away from the team for personal reasons.
