A barrage of scoring in the third quarter lifted Harper to a 27-6 victory over Sherman on Saturday at Baker High School in the OSAA Class 1A (6-player) semifinals.
For the second year in a row, the Hornets are headed to the 6-player state championship game. Harper Charter played in the 2024 title game, losing 32-13 to Powers.
A modest 7-0 halftime lead quickly swelled in the third quarter, as the Hornets turned up the gas. Maddoxx Martinez took the second half kickoff to the end zone for a touchdown. An unsuccessful conversion made it a 13-0 lead for Harper just seconds into the third quarter.
With two minutes left in the third quarter, Martinez found Colt Bentz for a receiving score to make it a 20-0 Hornet lead.
