A drunk brute grabbed his partner and tried to strangle her on her bed after after she told him to leave and had started packing his belongings. Brandon Holmwood saw red when the victim said he had to leave her Gateshead home and smashed her TV before pinning her on her bed with his hands around her throat.

The 28-year-old only released his grip when the woman, who was struggling to breath, kicked him, Newcastle Crown Court was told. He then shouted "This is what you make me do" before grabbing her hand and hitting her with it.

Holmwood, of Chapel View, in Gateshead, was arrested and appeared in the dock charged with intentional strangulation, which he denied. However, he was found gui
