SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - To follow up on a story we brought you back in October. Western New England University Student Jillian Battles has collected a total of 800 care packages in the shape of bags for our nation’s veterans.

Battles is in her fifth year working on her own tradition she calls “Jillian’s Bags for Bravery”. Every year, she gathers donations consisting of toiletries, books, and some food items for the people who’ve served. Some packages even consist of clothing items and blankets.

400 of the care packages will go towards the military men and women who are currently in active service. The remaining 400 bags will go towards the Veterans’ home and homeless veterans.
