A former Passaic County firehouse and hall recently sold at auction for $1.4 million.

The property at 811 Belmont Ave. in North Haledon was listed as a 9,184-square-foot building on 0.67 acres, according to the Max Spann auction website .

Spann said the new owner, whose name wasn’t released, is a local resident whose hobby is restoring cars.

“The garage of the firehouse was just perfect for him,” Spann told NJ Advance Media.

The auction drew the interest of 20 participants, Spann said.

“There were 8 or 9 who actually placed bids,” Spann said. “It was a hotly contested property and people had a ton of interest in it.”

It also has 30 parking spaces.

“It’s a win-win for everyone, not just for the sale but for the tax revenue it will bring to the borough,” he said.
