CHAPEL HILL — Bill Belichick has been a head coach in nine Super Bowl games, including six that ended with Belichick and players raising the Lombardi Trophy as NFL champions.
But Belichick is unlikely to be in a bowl game at the end of his debut season with UNC football, which lost 32-25 to Duke in the Victory Bell rivalry on Nov. 22 at Kenan Stadium.
For the first time since 2018, the Tar Heels (4-7, 2-5 ACC) are likely to miss out on a bowl bid, guaranteed to end the year with a losing record for the first time since 2018.
“We’re just playing one game at a time, not worried about anything in the future,” Belichick said in regards to the postseason after the loss to the Blue Devils (6-5, 5-2), who became bowl eligible with the road win.
