JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - The Jackson State Tigers punched its ticket to yet another SWAC Championship game on Saturday, defeating Alcorn State in the Soul Bowl, 27-21.
The Tigers were able to get the jump in this game, finding the end zone on their first drive after an eight-play, 75-yard drive capped off by a one-yard Jared Lockhart rushing score.
After forcing a punt, Jackson State put together an 11-play drive that was finished off by a 33-yard Gerardo Baeza field goal to make it a 10-point game.
The Tigers’ defense then forced a three-and-out, giving the ball back to their offense which could not be stopped. Jackson State was able to score three plays later on a one-yard Travis Terrell Jr. rushing score.
