CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Cleveland Monsters scored twice on the power play to defeat the Hershey Bears 5-3 on Saturday night at Rocket Arena.
Luca Pinelli contributed two assists and a third-period power-play goal as Cleveland built an early lead, weathered a Hershey comeback attempt and sealed the victory with a late insurance marker.
The Monsters jumped ahead early when Hudson Fasching scored at 4:06 of the first period with assists from Jack Williams and Ole Julian Bjørgvik-Holm. Jordan Dumais extended the lead to 2-0 on a power-play goal at 7:49, set up by Mikael Pyyhtiä and Pinelli.
Cleveland increased its advantage to 3-0 when Pyyhtiä scored at 2:37 of the second period with helpers from Pinelli and Hunter McKown. But the Bears responded quickly as Ivan Miroshnichenko scored at 5:48
