Police activity in the Burbank area is causing a major traffic back up on the 5 Freeway, prompting the closure of all northbound lanes Saturday night.

The Burbank Police Department has requested assistance from the California Highway Patrol.

Officers are working to place traffic breaks to close freeway traffic on the northbound 5 between Buena Vista Street and Hollywood Way, CHP said.

The northbound lanes of the freeway will be shut down for an unknown duration of time, according to the CHP.
