BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Thanksgiving travel rush is beginning to pick up across the United States, and AAA says it could be one of the busiest holiday travel periods in years. The agency estimates that more than 81 million people will travel at least 50 miles from home over the holiday, and at least 73 million of them are expected to drive.
That still leaves millions of travelers taking to the skies, including many passing through Buffalo Niagara International Airport, where the travel surge had not yet fully arrived as of Saturday evening.
"It seems pretty normal to like when I flew home for Christmas. Flew home for Christmas. Nothing crazy going on, to be honest," said Ethan Mcnish-Heider, a Niagara University student flying home for the holiday.
