Jajpur: At least four persons were injured, two of them critically, after a bus ran over morning walkers near Kujhala Chhak in Odisha’s Jajpur.

Sources said all four injured persons were rescued by locals and rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Jajpur. ADVERTISEMENT

The injured persons have been identified as Munu Jena, Badal Jena, Chintu Jena and Rakesh Jena, locals of the village.

The victims were out for a morning walk and exercise when the private bus travelling from Bari towards Cuttack lost control over its wheels and ran over them before speeding away.

Following the accident, tension prevailed in the area and residents staged a protest, burning tyres and blocking the road demanding action and compensation.
