: In a major breakthrough for security forces, ULFA (I) self-styled Major General Arunoday Dohotia and his personal security officer, Franchis Axom, surrendered early Saturday morning at Pangsau Pass along the Indo-Myanmar border.
The surrender of the high-ranking insurgent marks a significant setback for the proscribed outfit and a major development in ongoing peace initiatives and counter-insurgency operations in the region.
Considered a close aide of ULFA-I chief Paresh Baruah, Dohotia has been part of the group’s top military leadership. He was responsible for disseminating the faction’s communications — including emails and video messages of Paresh Baruah — to media houses.
