Midland residents have triumphed in a David versus Goliath struggle to stop Britain's largest solar farm being constructed beside a renowned beauty spot.

Campaigners argued the 271-acre scheme would ruin vistas of the Malvern Hills - a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Those opposing the plans by German company RWE Renewables UK Solar & Storage Ltd near Powick in Worcestershire , also raised concerns about fire hazards from the energy storage batteries.

A protest group named Preserve Powick Landscape and Nature (PPLAN) coordinated various demonstrations, including marching across the intended site.
