Ahmedabad: A horrifying blend of family violence and medical misuse has emerged from Banaskantha, where a 19-year-old aspiring medical student was allegedly sedated with 50 pills, on the advice of two local chemists, before being strangled by her own relatives.

According to a recent media report in the Times of India, the family administered the tablets to weaken her and then staged the killing as a suicide to “protect their honour.”

Investigators revealed that the chemists not only supplied the large quantity of pills but also guided the family on how to administer them. The girl was force-fed the sedatives, after which she was allegedly strangled by family members who then attempted to disguise the death as self-inflicted, manipulating the scene to mislead authorities.
