Tragedy nearly struck during No. 13 Miami’s 34–17 road win over Virginia Tech on Saturday, when a woman was toppled during a brutal sideline collision in the second quarter.

Leading 17–3 with less than two minutes before halftime, Hurricanes’ senior quarterback Carson Beck connected with freshman receiver Malachi Toney on a deep ball up the middle.

The 5-foot-11, 188-pound wideout bolted up the left side for a 56-yard gain before ultimately getting shoved out of bounds just ahead of the red zone — and sent barreling into a woman on the Miami sideline at full speed.
