FREMONT, Neb. —

A Fremont animal shelter has reunited a lost dog with its owner after nearly four months apart, following a road trip stop in Nebraska.

Evan Stubbs and his wife, along with their dog, Bobby, were on a road trip from their home in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Minnesota in August, when they stopped in Fremont. As he opened the car door to get gas, he said the hound-mix suddenly ran off.

"Fremont's one of our gas stops, and we stopped over on the other side of town there," Stubbs said. "He was gone that quick. Just in a flash, Bobby does the 100-yard dash while the rest of them are still standing at the gate."

After searching for Bobby, Stubbs and his wife posted about their lost dog on Facebook, but feared they might never see him again.
