The Yuma County Area Transit bus system has expanded service, increased ridership and deepened community partnerships – but continues to lose millions in federal funding each year due to insufficient local matching dollars.
In her annual transit report, Yuma County Intergovernmental Public Transportation Authority Executive Director Shelly Kreger told the Board of Supervisors that YCIPTA’s mission is to “make essential connections possible” across Yuma County.
“Every segment of society is impacted by transit,” she said. “Communities grow and thrive when people can get to work, school, medical services and shopping.”
