Twelve more political parties, including the Nepali Congress, registered with the Election Commission (EC) on Sunday, bringing the total number of parties preparing to contest the general election scheduled for March 5 next year to 56.
The registration window for political parties wishing to take part in the election remains open till November 26, giving parties just three more days to complete the process, the country’s EC spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai said.
While 132 parties are currently registered with the EC overall, only 56 have so far applied to participate in the upcoming House of Representatives election.
