A 38-year-old woman, from Toopran in Medak district, died by suicide after alleged harassment from microfinance companies over loan repayments. Unable to bear the pressure of moneylender, she ended her life on Sunday.

Medak: A woman, who had borrowed multiple loans from micro finance companies to build her house, died by suicide by jumping into a lake in Toopran town.

Varalakshmi (38), had reportedly borrowed Rs 4 lakh from a micro finance company, which allegedly continued to demand payments even after she repaid Rs 8 lakh over the past few years.

Varalakshmi had also taken loans from two other micro finance companies. Unable to bear the alleged harassment, she ended her life on Sunday. She is survived by her husband and two children.
