Anantnag, Nov 23: Kashmiri writer and poet Izhar Mubashir has been awarded the Sahitya Akademi’s Bal Sahitya Puraskar 2025 in the Kashmiri language category for his short story collection “Shure Te Tchure Gyush.” The award acknowledges his contribution to children’s literature in Kashmiri, particularly his focus on environmental themes, social concerns and the preservation of the language.
The book, chosen under the Akademi’s criteria for works published between 1 January 2019 and December 31, 2023, brings together stories aimed at the holistic development of children. The narratives mirror the scientific and technological environment in which young readers grow up, while remaining rooted in Kashmiri culture.
