LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. (KABC) -- The holiday season is barely underway, but the spirit is already taking a hit for a non-profit in the Inland Empire.
A truck carrying nearly 500 turkeys meant for a Grab-n-Go Food Distribution and Turkey Giveaway in Lake Elsinore was stolen Saturday.
The events are held by the U.R. Important Foundation , which planned to hand out the turkeys to those in need.
The organization's director said the team stepped away from the truck for a quick break. When they returned, the truck was gone.
Alexxa Oliver, director of the foundation, says the response from the community was really moving.
