Having disengaged from the family business of James Bond, Barbara Broccoli's next film project is a film adaptation of Shakespeare's Othello, based on a 2016 off-Broadway production that she shepherded. That production starred David Oyelowo and a pre- Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Rachel Brosnahan, both of whom are returning for the film, alongside Cynthia Erivo as Emilia. Oyelowo will also be assuming directing duties.

Somewhat surprisingly for an announcement of an Othello adaptation, there is no Iago casting (Daniel Craig played opposite Oyelowo onstage).
