LARAMIE – The University of Wyoming's sell-out crowd probably wished Josh Allen had one more year of eligibility Saturday afternoon.

The Cowboys had a first-and-goal at Nevada's one-yard line with less than 20 seconds left to play, but they failed to score before time expired in an ugly 13-7 loss at War Memorial Stadium.

The loss dropped UW to 4-7 overall and 2-5 in the Mountain West while eliminating it from bowl eligibility for the second consecutive year. The Wolf Pack improved to 3-8 and 2-6.

“I’m just devastated,” senior running back Sam Scott said through tears. “Devastated is the word.”

Scott was one of 24 players to be honored for senior day against the Wolf Pack. Allen, the Reigning NFL MVP, also made his first trip back to Laramie since his pro day in 2018.
