The City that Always Sleeps woke up a bit more last week as the Boston Licensing Board approved requests from Turkish Lazuri Cafe, 1 North Beacon St. in Allston and Wishing Cup, 45 Court St. downtown, to stay open until 3 a.m.
Turkish Lazuri Cafe had been open until 3 a.m. on weekends when it was a couple doors down from its present location. At a hearing on Wednesday, owner Rifat Canca said he now wanted to offer service until 3 a.m. seven nights a week.
When Canca said staffing after 9 p.m. would consist of just two servers - along with two cooks and a dishwasher - board Chairwoman Kathleen Joyce at first expressed some concern about all the people getting out of bars at 2 a.m., standing in line for a table or food while under the influence.
