The Minnesota Vikings may have to put their best foot forward with a new quarterback for the time being.
With Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy in the concussion protocol, coach Kevin O'Connell said Minnesota may have to turn to 2025 undrafted rookie Max Brosmer to start against the Seattle Seahawks at home on Sunday.
Brosmer is a former Minnesota Golden Golphers quarterback who spent the five seasons of his college career at New Hampshire. He's played sparingly this season so far, completing five passes on eight attempts for 42 yards.
If McCarthy can't go, Brosmer will be tasked with helping Minnesota salvage its season, if only for a week. However, McCarthy's on-field struggles could give Minnesota reason to keep Brosmer on the field past this upcoming Sunday if he plays well.
Could Brosmer even be the next Brock Purdy? It's way, way, way too early to say, and the odds are against him. However, a golden opportunity awaits Brosmer with the Vikings if McCarthy can't play on Sunday.
Could McCarthy still play on Sunday?
If he clears the concussion protocol, Minnesota could definitely start him against Seattle.
