REDDING, Calif. – A traffic stop Friday to the arrest of a parolee, Michael Johns, after a Redding Police officer noticed a Cadillac with a broken taillight and erratic driving near Eureka Way and California Street.

During the stop, Johns, 36, showed signs of extreme nervousness and was on parole for a firearm-related offense. Officers discovered a replica firearm in the driver’s door pocket and an SKS rifle in the backseat.

Johns was taken into custody after officers forcibly removed him from the vehicle. He was booked into the Shasta County Jail on several charges, including a felony firearms-related charge for possessing the SKS rifle.

The Redding Police Department emphasized its commitment to proactive enforcement and community safety.
