A town is mourning the death of a much-loved former pub landlord - described by many as a “true legend”.

Father-of-four Archie Dryden, from Dover, died just one week after being diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND).

Tributes to the 67-year-old have poured in over the last few days, with his funeral expected to have a huge turnout.

A crowdfunding page for the funeral has already neared its £5,000 target, with more than 100 donations in five days.

His best friend John Hammond, whose wife Samantha set up the page, told KentOnline: “Archie was a true legend in Dover and I think this will be one of the biggest funerals for someone in the town.

“I think there will be a massive turnout.

“I think the whole town wants to give him the best send-off.”
