OMAHA, Neb. —

Nebraska's public university system is facing budget challenges, leading to employee buyouts and department shutdowns, but a $14.5 million donation from Barbara Weitz and the Weitz Family Foundation offers hope and innovation at the University of Nebraska Omaha.

Dozens of 3-D printers are buzzing at UNO's biomechanical research building, where low-cost prosthetic hands are designed for global use. The lab also trains interns from the Autism Action Partnership, like Paul Stenka, who told KETV excitedly, "We also do anatomical models for surgical planning."
