The FAA is expecting this Thanksgiving holiday to be the busiest for air travel in 15 years, with 52,000 flights nationwide on Tuesday alone.
The TSA expects to screen 18 million passengers between this Tuesday and next Tuesday.
The U.S. transportation secretary is encouraging travelers to keep an eye on the weather and to always check their flight status before heading to the airport. He's also asking travelers to be patient.
Expect crowded roads as well. AAA projects 82 million people, including nearly 10 million Californians, will travel more than 50 miles from home this Thanksgiving holiday, whether that’s by air, rail or car. The majority will be driving. The freeways will be most congested on Tuesday and Wednesday.
