Edmonton’s two highly-criticized goaltenders came up super nova big in Florida, yet the questions about the position haven’t gone away in Oil Country. Not only is there the usual online drum beat demanding change, NHL insiders are speculating about the same.
Stuart Skinner made some astonishing saves down the stretch in Edmonton’s 6-3 win over Florida. Calvin Pickard was bombarded in Tampa yet stole a point, almost stealing a win. Nonetheless, critics were left with wanting more, as Skinner gave up a delicious slot rebound on one goal and failed to cut out a seam pass through his crease on another. While Pickard made many saves, it was Tampa’s Russian ace Andrei Vasilevskiy who made the huge save in overtime, not Pickard.
So the questions remain.
