According to Science Direct, both trained and untrained dogs possess the ability to detect seizures and other health issues thanks to their "exceptional olfactory abilities and sensitivity to human cues". The research states: "This has been supported by studies in which dogs have distinguished between epileptic seizure and non-seizure sweat samples, probably through the detection of volatile organic compounds (VOCs)."
