Though it was just its first game of the year, the Flagstaff Eagles boys basketball team seemed to run the gamut in terms of emotions a team experiences during an entire season.

Tied six times with six lead changes between the sides, both the Eagles and the Eastmark Firebirds put together dominant runs at different points of the game Monday at Flagstaff High School. Ultimately it was the Firebirds (2-0, 0-0 4A East Sky) who provided the final push, using a 13-1 run in the game’s final three minutes to spoil the home debut for the Eagles (0-1, 0-0 4A Grand Canyon) with a 58-51 victory.
