Plans for a new park in Fremont have some neighbors concerned and questioning if it is a good fit for their community.
The main sticking point is a plan to include a youth cricket field — some call it a once-in-a-generation opportunity, while others raise concerns over parking, traffic and safety.
“Injury from flying balls and you are kind of deactivating the space from other activities going on,” neighbor Philip Leung said. “This is a multi-generational neighborhood and you would have to be high aware of incoming balls.”
The proposed Palm Avenue Community Park would be built at a vacant, overgrown 13-acre lot featuring sports, playgrounds and picnic areas.
