New body camera video shows a Miami-Dade deputy shooting a suspect who was wanted in a double murder in Pembroke Pines.
The footage released by the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office on Tuesday shows the Sept. 14 shooting of 27-year-old Rashard Collins.
Officials said an off-duty Miami-Dade deputy saw Collins at a park in Miami Gardens and requested backup.
Collins spotted the off-duty deputy and ran, crossing all lanes of the Florida's Turnpike, swimming across a canal and climbing a tree, authorities said.
The video shows the off-duty deputy pleading with Collins to come out of the tree and surrender, while another deputy is armed with a rifle.
At one point, the armed deputy warned the off-duty deputy to back up as it appeared Collins was "going into his pocket."
