ORONO — The Alexandria boys hockey team used a flurry of goals to pick up win No. 1 on the season on Saturday, Nov. 22.

Boosted in part by an 18-9 shot advantage in the third period, the Cardinals downed Orono 6-4 in a shootout at Orono High School. Alexandria scored six goals in the final two periods of the game and finished the contest outshooting the Spartans 46-37, rebounding from a season-opening loss to Bemidji on Thursday, Nov. 20.

Both teams played an even opening period with Blake Tichy’s goal with six minutes remaining in the first off assists from Jackson Knight and Max Sutcliffe providing Orono with the early advantage.
