A resident of Edmonton’s central Oliver neighbourhood is dead after a fire in an apartment suite.

Edmonton fire crews were called to a structure fire in a building near 118 Street and 102 Avenue at 2:17 a.m. Monday. Alarms were ringing and residents evacuating when crews arrived. Inside, they found an unidentified person dead in an apartment.

The fire was deemed under control as of 3:01 a.m. and declared out at 3:50 a.m. No other injuries were reported.

Edmonton police are investigating but have deemed the death non-criminal.
