JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville mother is sharing her heartbreak after losing her 18-year-old son, Matthew Jackson, who police say was shot and killed Saturday night while working at a Burger King on Blanding Boulevard.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, Matthew was trying to break up a fight when he was shot.
“My son was on the clock working when he lost his life,” said his mother, Natasha Jackson.
JSO arrested 28-year-old Dawud Burritt, who is charged with second-degree murder, attempted murder, and armed burglary.
“The only question I have is why did he take my baby away… why did he take my baby away from me,” said Natasha.
Matthew, described as loving, caring, and full of potential, had dreams of serving his country. His mother says he wanted to become a Marine
