NORTH LIBERTY, Ind. (WNDU) - A 117-year-old barn at Potato Creek State Park was demolished Monday, disappointing community members who said they were working to preserve the historic structure.
The red barn had been passed down through generations of the Naragon family before the Indiana Department of Natural Resources acquired the property for a $100 million lodge construction project .
“I was extremely disappointed in the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. It was shameful that they did this because it was totally unnecessary, they could’ve worked with us to save the barn, moved the barn, it wasn’t just something that was just ready to be pushed over into a pile of rubble,” said Linda Matzat, vice president of Friends of Potato Creek State Park.
