Phoenix Union High School District has apologized to a school board representative from another district after previously accusing her of attempting to sneak a box cutter onto one of its campuses.

Phoenix Union High School District on Aug. 27 released a statement saying the mother-daughter duo Lydia and Cassandra Hernandez were involved in an attempt to bring a box cutter through the weapons detection system at Maryvale High School two days earlier. At one point, Lydia Hernandez said she was testing the weapons detector, Phoenix Union previously said.
