PHOENIX (AZFamily) — As families across the Valley prepare for Thanksgiving, health officials are reminding home cooks about potential hazards lurking in every kitchen.
Phoenix mom Kat Blaz learned about food safety the hard way during her first attempt at preparing a holiday turkey.
“The first time I defrosted turkey I left it in the fridge with no tray when a turkey defrosts a lot of juices and everything came out it looks wrapped,” Blaz said. “Unfortunately I contaminated entire fridge and had to throw everything out.”
The experience taught Blaz to be extra careful when preparing meals, washing up after every task and preventing cross-contamination.
