Congressman Tim Walberg has introduced legislation that he says is intended to help children and teens stay safe online.

Walberg’s teamed up with Congressman Laurel Lee of Florida for the Children and Teens’ Online Privacy Protection Act, or COPPA 2.0.

“W hich would modernize and strengthen online protections for young users,” Walberg said. “ By banning targeted advertising and establishing a comprehensive set of protections to safeguard children and teens’ privacy online, we can provide our nation’s youth and their parents with tools necessary to navigate today’s digital age.”

The legislation would also prohibit internet companies from collecting personal information from users who are 13 to 16
