A bipartisan group of 42 U.S. House members led by U.S. Reps. Chris Pappas, D-N.H. and Mike Lawler, R-N.Y., said it’s critical for struggling families that the Trump administration make good on its pledge to release most of the federal fuel assistance grants by the end of this month.
Rep. Maggie Goodlander, D-N.H., joined in a letter to Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. that noted states usually received allocations in early November under the Low-Income Heating Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
The federal government shutdown delayed processing these payments while program supporters insist it’s further been slowed because the Trump administration laid off the entire LIHEAP staff last April.
