Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani is inheriting the largest public school system in the nation.

And his inauguration comes as the city’s public schools continue to comply with a state law mandating smaller class sizes of between 20 and 25 students.

Next year, city public schools under Mamdani will have to ensure that 80% of classrooms fall under the size limit.

Shael Polakow-Suransky, a former deputy schools chancellor under Mayor Michael Bloomberg, joined NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Tuesday to discuss the mayor-elect’s education agenda.

He is also the current president of the Bank Street College of Education.
